Tree House is a cutting-edge shelter facility that uses progressive approaches to help the cats of our community. We were Chicago’s first cage-free cat shelter, founded in 1971. We use community housing to give our cats the most comfortable environment while they are with us on their journey to their permanent homes. We are also one of the first shelters in the US to care for and adopt out FeLV+ cats.
Tree House is not equipped to provide emergency veterinary care. If you have a medical emergency, please take your animal to an emergency clinic nearest you.
Tree House is one of two places in the City of Chicago that holds stray cats. The other is Chicago Animal Care and Control. If you have lost your cat, please see our page on what to do next.
