At 17 years old, Cous Cous is the oldest cat curre At 17 years old, Cous Cous is the oldest cat currently in our care. 💗⁠ ⁠ This past summer, she was found as a stray in Buffalo Grove—friendly, very thin, and unfamiliar to the neighbors around her. Her microchip traced back to Tree House, where she was initially registered in 2011. After all these years, we were more than happy to welcome her back into our care. ⁠ ⁠ Following a ten-day stray hold, Cous Cous officially rejoined the Tree House family. 🌳🏠️⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Cous Cous is managing a few medical concerns related to her urinary, thyroid, and dental health. Don’t let her RBF fool you, though—she’s a total “Velcro cat.” 🥺⁠ ⁠ She’s now living in a loving foster home. According to her foster family (two humans, a hamster, and a snake), Cous Cous spends each night curled up in bed with one of the humans and her days napping in the sun or on any available lap. She’s also no stranger to unorthodox nap spots—the sink, the bathtub, and even the trash can! Cous Cous may also be the first kitty of ours who is an artist… Just swipe to the end! 🧑‍🎨⁠ ⁠ What’s next for Cous Cous? Our team is focused on managing her ongoing health needs and ensuring she stays comfortable and loved. For a cat in her position, the next chapter could mean foster hospice or adoption. No matter what, one thing is sure: Cous Cous will be surrounded by people who love her.

In fact, their interactions can give future adopters super helpful insights about how our foster cats might fit into a multi-pet home.⁠ ⁠ We just have a few simple rules to keep everyone safe and happy:⁠ ⁠ 1️⃣ Provide a dedicated space for your foster cat during the initial separation period⁠ 2️⃣ Allow time for an acclimation period⁠ 3️⃣ With the support of our team, introduce resident pets slowly and carefully — only after your foster cat has been cleared by our staff for socialization (whether that means they’ve completed medical care or were healthy from the start)⁠ ⁠ Curious to learn more? 📩 Email us at foster@treehouseanimals.org and tell us about your household!

✨ Seventeen #TreeHouseCats found loving homes at ✨ Seventeen #TreeHouseCats found loving homes at the second-ever #SuperAdoptionSaturday, hosted by the Chicagoland Humane Coalition (@chicagolandhumane)! 🐾💛⁠ ⁠ This one-of-a-kind event brought together over 300 adoptable pets — cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, and more — from 18+ shelters and rescues across the region. For our cat-only shelter, it was a special opportunity for our kitties to meet families from across the tri-state area.⁠ ⁠ Thanks to discounted adoption fees and a shared commitment to breaking down barriers to adoption, more pets and people were able to find their perfect matches. 💫⁠ ⁠ That’s what Super Adoption Saturday is all about: bridging gaps and building families across Chicagoland and beyond. ✨ Foggy is more than just a cat — he’s a gen ✨ Foggy is more than just a cat — he’s a gentle soul.⁠ ⁠ When his person could no longer care for him after seven loving years, Tree House was here to give him the medical care, foster support, and second chance he needed — all thanks to compassionate supporters like you. 💛⁠ ⁠ This summer, Foggy’s story came full circle when a new family fell in love with him and brought him home, renaming him Juni. They shared: “Everything is going so great with Juni! 🐾 Cat socialization isn’t black and white: it 🐾 Cat socialization isn’t black and white: it’s a spectrum. Most people know the extremes: the cuddly indoor cat and the unsocialized community cat. But what about the timid cats in between?⁠ ⁠ Meet Jellianne Toe Beans. 💗 She spent most of her life in a quiet home with an elderly caretaker, where she learned to take tiny baby steps with human interaction. After her person passed away, Jellianne came to Tree House in January, and her world was suddenly turned upside down.⁠ ⁠ At the shelter, she was overwhelmed by the noise, the people, and the other cats. Her go-to coping mechanism? Feigning sleep: closing her eyes and pretending to nap while staying highly alert and stressed. 😿⁠ ⁠ Jellianne’s journey continued in foster care, where we learned even more about her. Her foster is the same person who helped another shy cat named Rey blossom, and he was ready to give the same TLC to this kitty.⁠ ⁠ Six months later, Ms. Toe Beans is making slow but steady progress. She now comes out of hiding for her beloved Temptations treats 🍗, though she’s still not ready for pets or playtime. And that’s okay, because progress looks different for every cat.⁠ ⁠ Rey, who once hid from everyone, eventually blossomed into a social butterfly with time and TLC. We’re hopeful that Jellianne’s story will follow the same path, showing us all that patience, love, and understanding can work wonders. 💛

Since leaving Tree House, her days have become filled with hours of curious exploration, plenty of midday snoozes, and zoomies-fueled playtime sessions. 🧶🐈⁠ ⁠ Neema knows how to relax in style, and when she wants to unwind in between mealtimes, naps, or snuggles sessions, you’ll find her by the windows catching the breeze or patiently watching birds come and go. 🌬️🍃🐦⁠ ⁠ Here’s to many more joyful, cozy moments ahead for Neema and her loving family! 💗
Sandy is a well-loved ginger boy with a heart full Sandy is a well-loved ginger boy with a heart full of curiosity and courage. 🧡🐾⁠ ⁠ For six wonderful years in his last home, he was cherished for exactly who he is — an adventurous soul who loved exploring the world on leash walks, chatting with his people, and savoring crunchy treats. He’s not one for cuddles, but his family understood that love comes in many forms, and they created a space where he could feel safe, respected, and deeply loved.⁠ ⁠ When life changed for his person, they made the difficult but compassionate decision to bring Sandy back to Tree House.
