Take a trip to Belize & Honduras 🌴✈️—no passport r Take a trip to Belize & Honduras 🌴✈️—no passport required, just a cozy Chicago foster home.⁠ ⁠ This sibling duo first touched down on our adoption floor as kittens way back in 2013, then spent years happily together with their human. Last October, they made a return trip—and now, at 12 years old, they’re enjoying a much-needed senior-style staycation in foster care 😌🧳.⁠ ⁠ This #BetterTogether vacation package includes:⁠ ⁠ 🖤 Belize (the black “void”): Shy at first, but once she warms up, she’s all about gentle pets. Big fan of sturdy cardboard boxes—classic cat behavior.⁠ ⁠ 🤍 Honduras (the gray & white guy): A bit more outgoing and known cuddlebug in his previous home. We know he’s ready to choose a new favorite human.⁠ ⁠ Honduras is currently getting some extra TLC for thyroid and tummy issues with help from our amazing #VetMed staff 🩺💙. Once he’s feeling his best and their routine is set, this mellow, loving pair will be available for adoption.⁠ ⁠ Dreaming of a Happy Ending Tail with two sweet senior cats? Action! 🎬️⁠ ⁠ When Gnarly was found by two special effects crew members filming for NBC's Chicago PD, he looked like an extra from a fight scene with a large wound on his chest. Despite his rough condition, Gnarly was friendly with the crew and neighbors in Calumet Park, who confirmed he was a local stray. 🐈️⁠ ⁠ Between the wound on his chest and the cold, rainy forecast ahead, his finders knew that Gnarly needed to come inside and get medical attention. At Tree House, our clinic staff suspected that Gnarly's wound came from fighting with other cats, given his feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and unneutered status. After his neuter procedure and wound cleaning, he spent a few weeks resting and recovering under the care of a foster. 🧡⁠ ⁠ When Gnarly returned to the adoption floor, his Chicago PD crew was ready for a reunion. "He looked so much healthier!" said his two finders. "His fur was so clean, and he was so friendly with us—we like to think he remembered us, too."⁠ ⁠ As fate would have it, Gnarly was once again brought home by the pair—but with an official adoption status this time! Today, Gnarly is a happy, adventurous cat who prefers to watch Chicago PD from the comfort of his couch rather than his old behind-the-scenes view. 🛋️📺️
COUS COUS UPDATE! 🧡🐾⁠ ⁠ When you’re the oldest cat COUS COUS UPDATE! 🧡🐾⁠ ⁠ When you’re the oldest cat in the Tree House family (a very impressive 17 years young!), the best news is simple: you’re enjoying each day as it comes.⁠ ⁠ Cous Cous joined us last summer from the suburbs—any Buffalo Grove folks here?—after being found outdoors with only a Tree House microchip from 2011 and no guardian to be found. She’s since been spending time in foster care while our team determined whether adoption or hospice would be the best next step.⁠ ⁠ And wow, has she made herself at home. Cous Cous is a champion cuddler, happily parking herself on a warm chest for as long as she can. She’s also picked up a few very refined hobbies—pottery and piano included. 🎹🎨⁠ ⁠ After recently recovering from a urinary tract infection (yep, cats can get UTIs too!), she’s headed in soon for a vet check to see if she might be ready for adoption. Fingers crossed—but no matter what, Cous Cous is deeply loved everywhere she goes. 💕
Have you seen our outdoor colony shelter? 👀 It’s t Have you seen our outdoor colony shelter? 👀 It’s tucked into the far corner of our parking lot!⁠ ⁠ A few years ago, this was home base for our own working cats who had been trapped, neutered, vaccinated, and placed in our outdoor colony. Our cat care technicians fed the colony on a daily schedule, making sure everyone had a safe, reliable place to land.⁠ ⁠ While we don’t currently have a resident colony, we still keep this little shelter up and running. During cold winters like now, it offers insulated hideaways, a heated water bowl, and meals served at the same time every day. That food often helps passing cats in need of warmth or a nutritious meal. 💚⁠ ⁠ Just like the meals served to #TreeHouseCats in our adoption center—keeping them healthy and strong before adoption—and in our medical ward, where food provides essential nourishment during recovery, this food is generously provided by our feeding partner, Purina.⁠ ⁠ Next time you visit—whether for a spay/neuter appointment, a café date, or to adopt a furry friend—take a short walk and check out our colony shelter! 🐾

We put this conch shell up to our ear… 🐚⁠ And whil We put this conch shell up to our ear… 🐚⁠ And while we didn’t hear the ocean, we did hear a foster pawrent singing praises.⁠ ⁠ Meet Conch Shell, a beautiful tortoiseshell kitty who’s ready for a Foster-to-Family adoption! Her foster pawrent says she’s “a very sweet cat who needs a lot of love and patience.” With time, this gentle girl will truly come out of her shell—no pun intended. 😉⁠ ⁠ When Conch Shell first arrived in her foster home, she preferred a cozy hideaway of her own. But once she decided it was time to make friends, she started purring and chirping like a little bird—pressing her head into waiting palms to show exactly how she likes to be pet.⁠ ⁠ And yes, her “20% orange cat” energy does make an appearance: she gets delightfully silly chasing a laser pointer! They met here… and we’re hoping they’ll head home together, too. 💞⁠ ⁠ Origami is a shy FeLV+* sweetheart who came to Tree House last July and went straight into foster care. While she took her time warming up to humans, everything changed once she met other FeLV+ cats. With a feline friend by her side, Origami truly began to blossom—proof that this girl thrives with a buddy.⁠ ⁠ Enter Lacie. ✨ She joined our FeLV+ crew in October (you may have met her at our Cat Café!) and quickly made it clear she was playful, energetic, and eager for a cat companion. The equation was easy: Lacie + Origami = instant magic.⁠ ⁠ Now this dynamic duo is zooming around their foster home while they wait for a family ready to adopt them both. The best part? From sisters on the street to cuddles on the couch From sisters on the street to cuddles on the couch. 🛣️➡️🛋️⁠ ⁠ Last spring, Caroline and Nina (formerly known as Fettuccine and Rotini) starred in a behind-the-scenes video on trapping a litter of kittens in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. Today, this #BetterTogether bonded pair takes center stage in their new, loving home. 🏡⁠ ⁠ Caroline, a shy but sweet girl, follows the confident and affectionate lead of her sister, Nina. The duo loves pets, snuggles, and casual conversation to pass the time. 💬 Still the energetic and rambunctious young girls we found outside many seasons ago, Caroline and Nina have brought their playfulness inside to their warm, happy home. ☀️⁠ ⁠ Like every cat that comes to Tree House, Caroline and Nina’s journey was a true team effort. From our community programs staff who carefully trapped their litter to the foster volunteer who socialized the young cats for adoption, our clinic and caretaking staff who cared for and supported Rotini during her stay in “R.O. Jail,” and the adoption crew who matched this Bonded Pair with their new family, every member of #TeamTreeHouse is thrilled to see another Happy Ending Tail. 🌳
We’re feeling hopeful about a special kitty’s heal We’re feeling hopeful about a special kitty’s healing journey. 💚🧡⁠ ⁠ Moonshine—one of our FeLV+ and FIV+* cats you may have met at the Cat Cafe this fall—recently began feeling under the weather. ☁️ When he became less playful, ate less, and then developed a fever, our team acted quickly. Moonshine was diagnosed with feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a disease once considered fatal, but now treatable thanks to newer medications. 💊⁠ ⁠ “Moonie” headed to a foster home where he could take his meds and soak up round-the-clock love from his foster pawrent and resident cat Baby Bear (another FeLV+ Tree House alum who had recently recovered from FIP). 🏡 While his treatment will continue for a few months and remains complex due to his pre-existing conditions, Moonshine is showing encouraging signs—he’s eating well and playing again. His foster shared that she “couldn’t believe the 180 he was making!” 😲⁠ ⁠ Our #VetMed staff say he’s not completely out of the woods yet, but they’re feeling much more hopeful. Fingers crossed for Moonshine as he continues to heal, and endless thanks to his incredible foster family for proving that a little love really can go a long way ✨🐾⁠ ⁠ *The feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency viruses (FIV) are lifelong conditions, but it doesn’t stop a cat from being a loving companion. For longtime Tree House friends, the names Tatsu & For longtime Tree House friends, the names Tatsu & Miyamoto might ring a bell. 🔔⁠ ⁠ These senior brothers have been part of the Tree House story since 2021, and through every twist and turn, one thing has stayed the same: they’re truly #BetterTogether 💞 Best friends, cuddle buddies, and lifelong teammates.⁠ ⁠ After some time in foster care, their personalities really shined. These two are watchers—they love big windows, quiet neighborhoods, and keeping a gentle eye on the world (including their foster pawrent and resident dog 👀🐶).⁠ ⁠ Tatsu is the braver of the pair, often saying hi to humans with what his foster swears are “harmless hisses”—clearly his love language 😸 Meanwhile, Miyamoto is a total Yoda type: quiet, calm, and wonderfully mellow.⁠ ⁠ Looking for two peaceful brothers to spend their golden years soaking up sun and snuggles in your living room? A sneak attack to the heart! ‼️⁠ ⁠ Ninja, a once s A sneak attack to the heart! ‼️⁠ ⁠ Ninja, a once shy and hesitant senior cat, recently completed his mission to turn his foster pawrents into his adopters. With a newfound confidence and trust in his humans, Ninja isn't keeping his playful, silly, and cuddly identities a secret. 🤭⁠ ⁠ Now, he shows off his quick reflexes while playing with his feather toy and vanishes from plain sight under a blanket for snuggles. "When he gets excited at dinnertime, he tends to meow forcefully while running; as a result, his meow warbles (kind of like SpongeBob's laugh), which cracks us up," says his pawrents. 🤣⁠ ⁠ Every cat is looking for a second chance, especially our sweet senior cats like Ninja. While older cats often have unique needs, our team of behavior and vet care experts is here to support everyone from fosters to adopters in giving the very best care and love to their feline friends. 🐾
Senior cats don’t all fit the stereotype—and Nikon Senior cats don’t all fit the stereotype—and Nikon is living proof. 😉⁠ ⁠ At 10 years old, this tortie “goes kinda crazy with the zoomies” (according to her former foster 😹). She’s friendly, adaptable, and gets along beautifully with cats, dogs, and kids—basically a social butterfly in a feline suit. 🦋⁠ ⁠ Nikon came to us with a heartfelt letter from her past caregiver, who shared how she was raised with endless love and snuggles, but had to be was placed in our care due to financial, health, and housing challenges. While in our care, Nikon received life-saving bladder stone and gall bladder removal surgeries, then recovered in foster with plenty of lap time and TLC.⁠ ⁠ Now fully healed, Nikon is back on our adoption floor—ready to bring joy, affection, and surprise zoomies to her next home.
