We love it when the sweetest little kitty is given We love it when the sweetest little kitty is given the name of an absolute beast! 👹 This cutie was named Cthulhu after the Lovecraftian monster (and was formerly known as Thin at Tree House). 🐙

Cthulhu, also affectionately called “Coocoo,” loves snuggles and sitting on her adopter’s shoulder as they walk around. 🦜 She naps in cuddle piles with her new kitty siblings, Joey (also a Tree House alumni) and Ladybug, who have also been giving her the ultimate spa experience—grooming her endlessly. 💇 We couldn’t be happier for this little family!
Meet Cosmic Brownie, the little kitten with a big Meet Cosmic Brownie, the little kitten with a big supporter. Despite being only six months old, Cosmic Brownie has faced more challenges than most. He was always one step behind his siblings, like when he overcame a battle with Panleukopenia at just two months old. While they responded positively to treatment, Cosmic struggled to gain weight and was constantly lethargic.

As additional neurologic symptoms developed, all paws began to point to a suspected liver shunt diagnosis. This means Cosmic’s liver can’t detoxify his blood as a normal liver would. Instead, it is rerouted around the organ and circulated through his system, causing dangerous toxins to build up. Without costly surgical intervention, Cosmic Brownie’s life is at risk.

When Ginger, a Tree House advocate, heard Cosmic Brownie’s story, she knew he needed her help. She had recently lost her beloved cat, Paddington, and made a lifesaving gift from one orange tabby to another in his name.

Hope is on the horizon for Cosmic Brownie with Ginger matching gifts up to $2,500 for his care through April 30. By participating in this matching gift challenge, your contribution doubles in impact, providing the necessary funds to cover medical treatments, rehabilitation, and the care needed to ensure Cosmic Brownie can recover fully and find a loving home alongside his brother and best friend, Nutty Buddy.

With your gift, you can join our kind-hearted donor and become a beacon of hope and change. Together, we have the power to transform lives. Donate at the link in bio.
Hey, friends! 👋 My name is Osito, and I'm on th Hey, friends! 👋 My name is Osito, and I'm on the lookout for my happy ending! At two and a half years young, I'm anything but your average cat—I'm a vibrant and curious guy with boundless energy eager to brighten up your days! 🎉

I’m a creature of habit, so I thrive when I have a routine and plenty of enrichment to keep me at my happiest and healthiest. Give me interactive toys and brain-teasing puzzles, and I'm all set to keep my clever mind sharp! 😺🧠

Life at Tree House has been amazing, but I hope my days here are winding down. It's been over a year, and I'm more than ready to pounce into a loving and playful home!

Meet our adoptable foster kitties: Churu, Pizzeria Meet our adoptable foster kitties: Churu, Pizzeria, and Jazara! 🐱💕

For these gals, shelter life was a challenge; for one reason or another, they needed time in a home to show their true selves. In foster homes, our residents can get the extra love and care they need, from socialization to active medical treatment to a bit of R&R. 🏡✨

Here's the thing, however. With these benefits comes less visibility, sometimes making it harder for our foster cats to find homes. Churu, for example, has been in her foster home for more than nine months, waiting for her happy ending.

If you want to help, hit the share button and tell the world about these hidden gems. Every share widens our net of potential adopters and brings our whiskered friends closer to their dream family. Share, spread the word, and be part of their happy ending! 🌟

Have you heard of feline leukemia virus? 🐈🦠 Have you heard of feline leukemia virus? 🐈🦠 Don't be alarmed—there's nothing to fear! A little awareness goes a long way in understanding how this condition affects our feline friends.

Known as FeLV for short, this virus suppresses a cat’s immune system, making them more susceptible to other infections and illnesses. FeLV is transmitted via bodily fluids such as saliva and urine and is often contracted through scratches and bites.

FeLV is more common than you'd think: it affects roughly 1-2% of the global cat population! 🌎😺 Geographical location, lifestyle, and environment are all factors that determine how concentrated the virus is from place to place.

While FeLV is incurable, it is preventable. Some simple ways to protect your cats are keeping them indoors, having them spayed and neutered, and keeping them away from unknown cats.

Life goes on past a FeLV diagnosis. Many cats lead healthy and happy lives despite their condition. ❤️‍🩹 An FeLV+ cat has just as much love to offer as one without, which is why Tree House has an adoption program for them through our Cat Cafe.

You can read more about the Cat Cafe and how you can help support our mission to see every cat thrive by reading the Loyola Phoenix article “Tree House Humane Society Serves Coffee With a Purr-pose” at our link in bio.
Nephew was found outside in clear need of human in Nephew was found outside in clear need of human intervention. Luckily for him, a Good Samaritan brought him to one of our emergency partners in Chicago, where they had no choice but to relinquish his care. While the emergency team worked to stabilize Nephew's breathing, they began reaching out to local rescues and shelters for intake before they would ultimately have to transfer him to an open-admission shelter.

Poor Nephew was emaciated, filthy, battling pneumonia, and in such poor condition that we questioned his quality of life. To be given a fighting chance, he was hospitalized for a few days before receiving continued care at Tree House. As Nephew recovered and stabilized, he was moved to foster care, where he could be closely monitored in a home environment. He received medication for his pneumonia twice daily and lots of TLC from his foster family.

Nephew’s foster family fell in love with him during their time together and made it official after three short weeks in their home! With the help of a supportive community, Nephew's journey to recovery has come to a heartwarming end.

It’s napping—which we find pretty relatable here at Tree House, and we’re so glad at least someone is getting to nap all day long on the comfiest pillows and blankets. We’re thrilled that Swiss Roll got to go home with his new family and receive all the snuggles! 💙💤

At my core, I'm a bit of a diva. I need all eyes on me and some pampering to keep me looking fierce and feeling happy. 💅 So don't let my quiet demeanor fool you—I'm just waiting for my moment to shine with your love and attention!

Cincau, formerly Trefoil Whiskerpuff, skipped the adoption floor when Tree House team member @hanarafee.art met him at the Veterinary Wellness Center and felt he was too sweet not to take him home! 💞

Living in a house with three other cats and four humans, Cincau’s days are jam-packed with playtime, hanging out with roommates, and flopping onto the floor. His favorite spot in the house is the papasan chair, where he can nap in the sunlight. While Cincau is generally a laid-back guy, he does make sure to zoom around with resident cat Sago before bedtime. 🏃⏪️
