Tree House Humane Society Opens Its Doors For 20th Annual Lights Of Love Holiday Celebration

Tree House invites the community to its annual holiday event held in honor and remembrance of present and past loved ones, both human and furry. This year, which promises to be the best yet, will feature live music, vegetarian food, face painting, a 15-foot donated tree, clinic tours, holiday drinks, pictures with Saffy Claws, cat visits, and lots more.

Now in its third holiday season at its new, eco-friendly, custom cat shelter in Roger’s Park, Tree House Humane Society is opening its doors to the community for its annual holiday event. In the spirit of the holidays and a throwback to events past, Tree House is returning the ticket price to $5, both to celebrate the 20th year of the event and to make sure that it’s accessible to all who want to attend. The ticket price includes vegetarian food donated by Wow Bao, Stan’s Donuts, Hub 51, and Foodlife; tours of the clinic; Trap-Neuter-Return demonstrations; photographs with Saffy Claws, Tree House’s sassy mascot; face painting; live music from Etc. Music School and the Tree House Staff Choir; and sample seatings in the Cafe. Guests can also purchase holiday drinks from the Cafe along with a marshmallow bar upgrade, shop holiday sales in the Tree House gift shop, virtually adopt a mini cat named after a real Tree House cat, or play Trap A Cat for retro Tree House prizes. There will be more to do than in any previous year.

Traditionally, Lights of Love is an event to honor and remember loved ones who have touched our hearts, both in the present and those who have passed. It is a way to bring together animal lovers of all kinds to take part in a community-building event and light up the shelter in celebration of a shared passion. Tree House is excited to welcome past supporters to their new home and also hopes to meet more of the surrounding neighborhood residents.

“We are so proud to show off what we are doing for our community and our cats,” said Tree House’s Executive Director Raissa Allaire, “Without our supporters and friends, we wouldn’t be able to save as many lives as we do. On behalf of ourselves and the cats, we invite everyone to this milestone event to come see the progress we’re making towards a more humane Chicago where every cat thrives.”

This year’s Lights of Love is presented by both VCA and Heal Animal Clinic.

The event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 with the ceremonial lighting to take place at 5:45 p.m. and clinic tours to run every fifteen minutes beginning at 4:15 p.m. Most activities will have their last call at 7:45 pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online at https://treehouseanimals.org/lightsoflove or at the door. Supporters who cannot attend can still take part by purchasing a tribute light for a loved one, past or present, at the same URL. Everyone is welcome.
