Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at Tree House Humane Society

Tree House Humane Society is committed to a world where pets and the humans who love them have every opportunity to thrive. To us, that means a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in everything we do.

At Tree House:

Together we thrive. By representing the communities we serve, we are stronger, healthier, and better caregivers.

It takes a village. Everyone in society wins when all people have access to opportunity: access to education, access to meaningful employment, access to care, and access to the love of a pet.

We aim to be a workplace of choice. We strive for a culture that welcomes, values, and incorporates differences to advocate and support our mission in a way that empowers all.

As a modern animal welfare organization, we are committed to welcoming every voice to participate in our mission. This work is just the beginning of what we hope will be a lifelong journey for Tree House towards our vision of a world where we can all thrive together.

What This Means

It was important to us from the beginning that this work begins at the very top–the Board and leadership level. We’ve embedded it as part of our strategic plan.

We have formed a Board-level committee that meets regularly, including staff and community members, as well as a community panel for accountability and feedback.

We are currently conducting an assessment of our organization from top to bottom through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Specifically, this involves hiring a certified DEI consultant to help us eliminate bias and point us towards a thriving future.

This is part of our 2022 – 2024 Strategic Plan. Learn more about our other strategic priorities below.
