From sisters on the street to cuddles on the couch From sisters on the street to cuddles on the couch. 🛣️➡️🛋️

Last spring, Caroline and Nina (formerly known as Fettuccine and Rotini) starred in a behind-the-scenes video on trapping a litter of kittens in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. Today, this #BetterTogether bonded pair takes center stage in their new, loving home. 🏡

Caroline, a shy but sweet girl, follows the confident and affectionate lead of her sister, Nina. The duo loves pets, snuggles, and casual conversation to pass the time. 💬 Still the energetic and rambunctious young girls we found outside many seasons ago, Caroline and Nina have brought their playfulness inside to their warm, happy home. ☀️

Like every cat that comes to Tree House, Caroline and Nina’s journey was a true team effort. From our community programs staff who carefully trapped their litter to the foster volunteer who socialized the young cats for adoption, our clinic and caretaking staff who cared for and supported Rotini during her stay in “R.O. Jail,” and the adoption crew who matched this Bonded Pair with their new family, every member of #TeamTreeHouse is thrilled to see another Happy Ending Tail. 🌳
We’re feeling hopeful about a special kitty’s heal We’re feeling hopeful about a special kitty’s healing journey. 💚🧡

Moonshine—one of our FeLV+ and FIV+* cats you may have met at the Cat Cafe this fall—recently began feeling under the weather. ☁️ When he became less playful, ate less, and then developed a fever, our team acted quickly. Moonshine was diagnosed with feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a disease once considered fatal, but now treatable thanks to newer medications. 💊

“Moonie” headed to a foster home where he could take his meds and soak up round-the-clock love from his foster pawrent and resident cat Baby Bear (another FeLV+ Tree House alum who had recently recovered from FIP). 🏡 While his treatment will continue for a few months and remains complex due to his pre-existing conditions, Moonshine is showing encouraging signs—he’s eating well and playing again. His foster shared that she “couldn’t believe the 180 he was making!” 😲

Our #VetMed staff say he’s not completely out of the woods yet, but they’re feeling much more hopeful. Fingers crossed for Moonshine as he continues to heal, and endless thanks to his incredible foster family for proving that a little love really can go a long way ✨🐾

*The feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency viruses (FIV) are lifelong conditions, but it doesn’t stop a cat from being a loving companion. With routine veterinary support, FeLV+ cats can enjoy many happy years with their families.
For longtime Tree House friends, the names Tatsu & For longtime Tree House friends, the names Tatsu & Miyamoto might ring a bell. 🔔

These senior brothers have been part of the Tree House story since 2021, and through every twist and turn, one thing has stayed the same: they’re truly #BetterTogether 💞 Best friends, cuddle buddies, and lifelong teammates.

After some time in foster care, their personalities really shined. These two are watchers—they love big windows, quiet neighborhoods, and keeping a gentle eye on the world (including their foster pawrent and resident dog 👀🐶).

Tatsu is the braver of the pair, often saying hi to humans with what his foster swears are “harmless hisses”—clearly his love language 😸 Meanwhile, Miyamoto is a total Yoda type: quiet, calm, and wonderfully mellow.

Looking for two peaceful brothers to spend their golden years soaking up sun and snuggles in your living room? Keep an eye out—Tatsu & Miyamoto will be available for adoption soon ☀️🛋️

Just look at this guy flopping down right next to #TeamTreeHouse! Honeysauce is a total lover boy who’s always ready to cuddle up and soak in the affection. Certified good behavior. Gold star earned ⭐

NAUGHTY CAT OF THE WEEK: FILENA 👎️❌️
Miss Filena is also a lover girl… maybe a little too much! She showers hands in her foster home with kisses (aka enthusiastic licking) and occasionally tries to sneak in a tiny nibble—oops! 😅 She’s learning how to channel all that love in gentler ways, and we’re cheering her on every step of the way.

Mealtime? ⏰🍽️ No guesswork here. Vivace will politely (and repeatedly) remind you when it’s time—and she’s not picky either.

A sneak attack to the heart! ‼️ Ninja, a once s A sneak attack to the heart! ‼️

Ninja, a once shy and hesitant senior cat, recently completed his mission to turn his foster pawrents into his adopters. With a newfound confidence and trust in his humans, Ninja isn't keeping his playful, silly, and cuddly identities a secret. 🤭

Now, he shows off his quick reflexes while playing with his feather toy and vanishes from plain sight under a blanket for snuggles. "When he gets excited at dinnertime, he tends to meow forcefully while running; as a result, his meow warbles (kind of like SpongeBob's laugh), which cracks us up," says his pawrents. 🤣

Every cat is looking for a second chance, especially our sweet senior cats like Ninja. While older cats often have unique needs, our team of behavior and vet care experts is here to support everyone from fosters to adopters in giving the very best care and love to their feline friends. 🐾
Senior cats don’t all fit the stereotype—and Nikon Senior cats don’t all fit the stereotype—and Nikon is living proof. 😉

At 10 years old, this tortie “goes kinda crazy with the zoomies” (according to her former foster 😹). She’s friendly, adaptable, and gets along beautifully with cats, dogs, and kids—basically a social butterfly in a feline suit. 🦋

Nikon came to us with a heartfelt letter from her past caregiver, who shared how she was raised with endless love and snuggles, but had to be was placed in our care due to financial, health, and housing challenges. While in our care, Nikon received life-saving bladder stone and gall bladder removal surgeries, then recovered in foster with plenty of lap time and TLC.

Now fully healed, Nikon is back on our adoption floor—ready to bring joy, affection, and surprise zoomies to her next home. Could that be you? 💫

Many shelter cats experience a few layovers—flying from one home, pausing at the shelter, then heading off to another. And just like travel IRL, fewer layovers = a smoother, less stressful journey. 🧳✨

With Foster-to-Family, cats wait it out in a cozy foster home, meet their adopter, and go straight home—no extra stops. Now that’s the travel plan we want to book. 🏡💖

A new chapter, for both cat and pawrent. 📖 Dwig A new chapter, for both cat and pawrent. 📖

Dwight spent many years in a loving home, until his adopter made the difficult decision to return him to Tree House, trusting that he'd find a place where he could thrive. With a thoughtful list of Dwight's favorite toys and treats, quirks and lounging preferences, we set out to find his next great adventure. 🧭

This fall, Dwight's next chapter began when he met his foster, who had been looking for a furry companion of his own. "It was great to have a pet in my home again," he said. "I didn't realize how much I missed it until Dwight came along." 💚 In a matter of months, Dwight had snuggled his way into his foster’s heart, leading to his official adoption!

A friend to all who visit their home, Dwight is always looking for pets, a chat, and his next meal! "I've also woken up to him grooming me a few times," laughs his adopter. 💈

Returns are often just the beginning of a new adventure. For Dwight and Luke, this is the start of what looks to be the sweetest chapter yet.
We welcomed Knick Knack to Tree House from Chicago We welcomed Knick Knack to Tree House from Chicago Animal Care and Control in October, ready to give this sweet guy the medical care he needed. ⚕️

This eight-year-old ginger gent has a few health hurdles—including cardiac, dental, and kidney disease—but our #VetMed team has been hard at work getting him on the path to feeling better. While treatment is underway, Knick Knack has been resting and healing in a cozy foster home. 🏡

According to his foster, he’s a quiet, chill companion who spends his awake hours happily shadowing his human. He’s gearing up for a dental procedure just before the New Year, which will bring some much-needed relief. 🎆 After that, his Mew Year’s resolutions are simple: relax, recover, repeat.

🐈️ Cats like Knick Knack have the opportunity to thrive, thanks to the foster families that care for them as they undergo medical treatment. Interested in changing a cat’s life? Learn about fostering at treehouseanimals.org/engage/volunteer/foster/ (link in bio)

This mystical black kitty has surfaced from the se This mystical black kitty has surfaced from the sea to share her tale 🖤🌊

Meet Selkie—named for the legendary sea spirits who journey between worlds. She washed up at Tree House in September from western Illinois as a devoted nursing mama to six kittens. And as if that weren’t enough, Selkie was quietly battling painful dental disease and severe ear infections. (Ouch—our jaws ache just thinking about it.) 💔

With the help of her loving foster pawrents and #TeamTreeHouse, this brave girl faced surgery to remove the teeth causing her pain and completed antibiotics to heal her infections. Her signature head tilt is a lasting reminder of nerve damage from an ear infection—an “imperfection” we think only adds to her magic. 🔀

Now feeling so much better, Selkie has traded the depths for dry land and is on our adoption floor, ready to meet her person. She’s comfortable with other cats and kids, and her next chapter is wide open. Where will this Selkie land next? 🌙✨

You’ll never guess where we found this fella… 👀 You’ll never guess where we found this fella… 👀

Last week, a #TeamTreeHouse volunteer was delivering donated cat food to a colony caretaker in the Austin neighborhood when they heard faint meowing. The sound? Coming from a garbage can.

Inside, they found this sweet kitty frozen and stuck to the bottom, possibly in search of food or shelter. While we’ll never know how he got there, thankfully, he was gently freed—and it turned out to be his lucky day. 🍀

After scanning for a microchip, checking with neighbors, and finding no owner, we officially welcomed him as a Tree House cat. 🌳

Meet Chulo 💛—an older kitten now waiting on our adoption floor. One glance through the window and he’ll start making air biscuits. That’s how charming he is. Whoever adopts Chulo is signing up for a lifetime of cozy snuggles.
